As it looks, it will probably be nothing with the starling pair. For days, not a single visit of a starling in the nest box.
The reason: The starlings as migratory birds have left their winter quarters here in the Rhineland and in Cologne and have moved on. There are almost no starlings here anymore. Yesterday I saw 3 or 4 starlings sitting in the neighbor’s birch tree, but they will probably be gone soon.
From therefore remains only the hope that the nesting box is then taken by tits in seizure. I will wait another 1 or 2 days and should no starling be seen until then in the box, I will remove the foliage again and exchange the front against a front with a smaller entrance hole for tits.
